Kannscht du Deitsch schwetze?
Bradley Smith, Archivist at the Berks History Center, will present an eight-week course that introduces participants to the language and culture of the Pennsylvania Dutch. This beginner course will provide participants with instruction related to pronunciation, vocabulary, and common phrases, and lead discussions related to Pennsylvania Dutch culture and history. Supplies are included. Just bring a pen and paper.
Due to overwhelming demand, we will be offering multiple day and evening courses, beginning the week of September 20, 2022, and concluding by November 12th. Each class will be 90 minutes in length and will be held at the Berks History Center, located at 940 Centre Avenue, Reading, Pennsylvania. For those not able to attend in-person classes, the Berks History Center will also offer online classes in subsequent sessions, beginning in January 2023.
Registration and pre-payment are required. Once you sign up, this will be your designated class day and time for the 8-week session. Any changes will need to be approved. The cost is $50 for BHC members (Individual Level Members and above) and $120 for non-members.
