Your Last Chance to See BHC’s Newest Museum Exhibits
Make sure to visit the BHC Historical Society Museum this summer for your last opportunity to see two of BHC’s newest exhibits, A Snapshot in Time: Phase II and the Wyomissing Band: Celebrating 100 Years.
In October 2022, Berks History Center, in collaboration with the Berks Photographic Society (BPS), presented a second phase opening and display to the original exhibit, A Snapshot in Time: The Photography Collection of Dr. William A. Haman.
From the original exhibition, BHC Curator, Amber Vroman, selected fifteen “highlight” Haman images for local amateur photographers to reinterpret as a new, contemporary composition. For each circa 1900 image, one winning BPS member photograph was chosen to be displayed beside its historic inspiration in the gallery.
The contemporary images highlighted in Phase II will be available to view through the end of September 2023. This does not include displays from the original exhibit, A Snapshot in Time: The Photography Collection of Dr. William A. Haman.
Berks History Center’s newest collaborative exhibit, The Wyomissing Band: Celebrating 100 Years, opened to the public in February 2023.
Since 1923, the Wyomissing Band has provided an outlet for musicians to come together in a positive way. To this day, they continue to make music that the community is proud of.
Come visit The Wyomissing Band: Celebrating 100 Years before August 12, 2023 to learn about the Wyomissing Band’s humble beginnings, meet former and current band members, view uniforms and instruments from the last century, and literally march to the melody of popular band tunes.
Although two exhibits are leaving the BHC Historical Society Museum, exciting things are on the horizon! Just recently, the New to the BHC Collection exhibit located in the Terrence E. Connor Auditorium was updated and now features 12 objects that are the newest additions to the museum’s collection. Several items featured are a part of BHC’s Reading 275th Anniversary celebration.
